About Me
Hello everyone,
My name is Tasha Renee’ Burris Jolivette, and I'm the proud owner of Speech Therapy Boutique, LLC-- your online educational boutique. I obtained both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1995 and a Master of Education in Special Education with a concentration in Communication Disorders in 1999 from Southern University of Baton Rouge, LA. .
For over 19 years of my career, I’ve evaluated and treated students from ages 3-21 years of age with simple to complex communication needs in preschools, early childhood classrooms, public schools (elementary, intermediate, middle, and high school), home health care settings and a private clinic.
During my time at Progressus Therapy of Tampa, Florida, I ran a program for
preschool-age children (Speech Impaired Only) called Successful Techniques for Articulation and Reading Readiness (STARR Program) in Pearland Independent School District, Pearland, Texas. The STARR program was designed to target learning in a language-rich environment using thematic lesson plans and station rotations to address individual educational plans. In addition, the assignment required me to help assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with speech disorders to improve functional communication skills throughout the school district. Also, I have worked as a Lead Speech Language Pathologist & Supervisor at Stafford Municipal School District, Stafford, Texas.
My responsibilities included supervising a Speech Pathologist Assistant; supervising a Clinical Fellow; assisting staff in observing, describing, and referring suspected speech and language disorders; assessing and diagnosing individuals with Speech and Language impairment; providing appropriate speech-language therapy programs in a variety of settings designed to remediate specific student disorders; collaborating with classroom teachers, school staff, and administrators to aid student progress; managing test and therapy materials in a fiscally responsible manner; assisting staff in the collection and maintenance of appropriate student records necessary for compliance and monitoring; assuring student/parent information was handled confidentially; providing information and support to parents.
I'm a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association and hold the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. I possess a license to practice speech/language pathology privately in the state of Mississippi, in addition to holding an educator's certificate to practice Speech/Language pathology within the school system.
In my free time, I enjoy attending church services, fine dining, reading the Bible, shopping, singing, swimming, watching movies, and spending time with my friends and family. It is an honor and privilege to be a member of both Brown Missionary Baptist Church of Southaven Mississippi and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
